One year on…

It was one year ago today that everything changed… We celebrated the event yesterday, and it’s safe to say that Harry had a great time. One year into life the boy is starting to walk, and though I lack bulletproof evidence of speech, he does frequently point while saying something that sounds uncannily like “whazzis?” or “whazzat?”…

Lucky for you, I have no profound reflections on parenting to share. I mourn the passing of slow, lazy mornings, and the unappreciated freedom of the pre-fatherhood era. I’m perpetually exhausted and punchdrunk these days, and time has become a scarce and unbelievably precious commodity. Then again, my ultimate simple pleasure is hearing him laugh, which he does more or less constantly. And it can be such insane fun to watch him do just about anything… methodically pulling socks from the drawer one by one, staring at a passing dog, grooving to a strange piece of music, riding on a ferry.

In any event he came, he’s raising serious hell, and he’s changing so fast that he’s a new boy every day… and I love him like crazy.
